  • After the amazing experience of a three-year Jean Monnet Module project, I am very happy and honored for being awarded Jean Monnet Chair on migration in EU-Turkey relations by the European Commission 🇹🇷🇪🇺.

    In addition to our summer courses on migration, the Chair activities will include a variety of workshops, seminars, research activities, and courses during the next three years. 


  • After almost 2 years of work, The Council of Europe – Youth Partnership section published our study in its’ new book entitled “Between insecurity and hope: Reflections on youth work with young refugees”. We have been a part of this inspiring work with Guldan Kalem.
  • New book alert: “ Il confine mediterraneo: L’Europa di fronte agli sbarchi dei migranti”, edited by and , published by Carocci. We discussed the case of Turkey with my colleague @DrElifCetin

  • New Horizon 2020 COST Action Project!: I was nominated as the Management Committee member of Turkey for the COST Action project entitled “DRYLANDS FACING CHANGE: INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH ON CLIMATE CHANGE, FOOD INSECURITY, POLITICAL INSTABILITY. It is a 4-year research network project and I will work under the working group on migration, youth and security issues. The project includes around 60 researchers from 28 countries.

  • With my colleague Güldan Kalem, we  presented a draft report in the Council of Europe, Brussels office on the role of youth work in immigrant integration policies, which will be published in 2017. The draft report is available here.

  • My new article entitled “Turkey’s great challenge: integrating 2.7 million Syrian refugees” was published by The Conversation. Please click here to access.
  • My course project titled “Migration-Security Nexus in the EU” has been awarded as Jean Monnet Module by the European Commission. Among 737 applications, only 147 projects were selected for funding this year in Europe and only 5 projects from Turkey were selected under Jean Monnet actions.14125555_10155243975067516_2682376886104670914_o
  • A New Strategic Partnership Project!: “Empowering Youth Workers to Reach out Young Migrants and Refugees” has been approved by the Turkish National Agency. The project is one of the two projects approved in the first round of 2016 Erasmus+ KA2 Youth Strategic Partnerships applications. The project consortium includes six partners from Turkey, Austria, Italy and Greece. Total budget of the project is 197.529,00 Euros.
